Trailer 2

In which the Host meets the Station

The transcript of this trailer can be found below or as a PDF here

Station Arcadia is a podcast that tells stories from a world where steampunk, dieselpunk, cyberpunk, and solarpunk societies all exist side by side. These stories are told through a radio station on a shifting island which broadcasts stories from across the land that together tell the story of a revolution, and hope in the face of a dying world. Also, it's queer.

Station Arcadia will begin broadcasting Season 1 on Friday, September 4th, 2020. Episodes will be released bi-weekly at 9am PDT. Make sure to stay up to date by following us on Twitter and Tumblr. This trailer featured Jade Virginia as Kass, and credits by C.V.V.M. It was written by Eliana Esdi, directed by Tovah Brantner, and edited by Eliana Esdi. It featured audio editing and soundscaping by Becker Hoang.

[CLICK, AS THE RADIO STATION TURNS ON. FUZZ, FADING AWAY]

KASS. -this technology. Where are the touch pads? (sigh) Nothing about this building - no, this whole island actually! Nothing about this island makes any sense.

[STATIC AND CLICKS AS KASS FIDDLES WITH BUTTONS, DIALS]

KASS. There sure are a lot of buttons. Doesn’t seem to be doing anything though.

[MORE CLICKS]

KASS. (wry) With my luck, one of them is big, red, and clearly labelled “do not touch”, only I can’t see it.

KASS. Y’know frankly, if I blow the world up, it’s the fault of whoever designed this place like, really, no braille?

KASS. I mean, not that I can read braille, yet. But it would have been a good thought.

KASS. (groan) Ghosts, look at me. (laugh) Talking to a... button room. In a weird, offtech building. On an island that shouldn’t exist. You know, not that I- oh, weird. What-what are these things?

[ELECTRIC SHOCK SOUND]

KASS. (sound of pain) Ahh! Just my luck, this place hates me.

[SOUND OF KASS DROPPING THE WIRE TUBES AFTER THE SHOUT. BEAT, FOLLOWED BY A SOFT WHIRRING NOISE]

KASS. Um are you... trying to communicate?

[WHIRRING INTENSIFIES]

KASS. Are you an AI? Well I guess it doesn’t matter, really. Um, do you want me to do something with the uh... long metal tubes? If that’s what they are.

[PAUSE]

KASS. Nothing? Alright, maybe not a sentient building.

[ELECTRIC SHOCK SOUND]

KASS. (gasp) Okay, okay just uh! Show your code already, I don’t know what you want from me!

KASS. Alright, you know what? I’m gonna try it. This won’t work, but let me just-

[TWO CLICKS, AS KASS PLUGS INTO THE STATION]

KASS. (gasp)...oh. Wow. I-I can... I can see. Not like with bionics but it... it’s less of a see and more of a sense. I guess the station is sentient, or something.

KASS. Station? St-- how did I... is--are you telling me things?

KASS. It’s... it’s weird, it’s not like you’re talking to me, I just... know. They’re in my head. (laughing) I guess eyes really are the windows to the soul.

KASS. On air? I’m sitting down, actually. In a chair. It’s not very comfortable.

KASS. Oh, broadcasting? Um like, like video, and feeds? No, no I know there’s no video. How then am I...

KASS. What’s radio?

[BROADCAST ENDS AS KASS PUSHES A BUTTON.]
